Medical Malpractice

Common Areas Of Medical Malpractice

Medical Malpractice can occur in a hospital, doctor's office, lab, or in many other locations.   It can take a multitude of forms.   However, common areas for which you shold be vigilant are:

  • Failure to diagnose certain kinds of injuries in the emergency room
  • Failure to provide proper care during pregnancy, labor and delivery, resulting in injuries to the mother and/or the infant
  • Failure to diagnose cancer
  • Prescribing treatment or drugs which are not appropriate for a patient's medical condition;
  • Failure to properly monitor an ill or elderly patient while in the hospital or nursing home; resulting in falls or other injuries
  • Failure to properly perform surgeries

A potential claim arises when a health care provider has acted in a manner that is in breach of the applicable standard of care and and as a result the patient is injured.
