Mark Nee
Mark grew up in Gaithersburg, Maryland and graduated with a BS in Criminology from the University of Maryland, an MBA from Hood College and a JD from Chapman University.
He comes to the firm after retiring from over 20 years as a police officer where he served in a variety of positions including two terms as the president of a police union. At the time of his retirement, he was a supervisor in the Horse Mounted Unit.
While attending law school, Mark was a law clerk in the California firm of Moore, Rutter, and Evans
where he assisted in defending police officers accused of federal civil rights violations. He also clerked for the Orange County (California) District Attorney Gang unit where he used his law enforcement background to assist new prosecutors in understanding gang culture and behavior.
Mark is also an officer in the Judge Advocate General Corps of the US Army Reserves, where he is a criminal prosecutor and teaches legal principles of war to deploying soldiers. He has worked on several high profile cases including the Abu Gharib scandal. Mark has earned numerous commendations by both the police department and the Army including the Fraternal Order of Police Medal of Bravery and the U.S. Army Bronze Star for his actions during combat operations in Iraq (2003-2004). He was recently awarded the Meritorious Services Medal for his continued work for the U.S. Military in support of the War Against Terrorism.
Mark focuses his civilian practice in the areas of workers' compensation, estate planning, small business creation and development and family law. Many of his clients come from law enforcement, military and fire/rescue backgrounds, as well as from area unions.
